Econometric Models of Certain Household Income Inequality Indicators in Poland

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the household income inequality level and certain labour market and economy development indicators in Poland. Econometric models for Gini coefficient before and after social transfers and two at risk of poverty rates were built. GDP per capita, the unemployment rate, the employment rate in two age groups and the employers’ social contribution were used as potential explanatory variables. The study concerns the years 2005–2014, i.e. the period after the Polish accession to the European Union. Data published online by Eurostat and the International Monetary Fund were used.
